Some Special Friends - and Horses - Returned!

There are some things we might never know the answers to;

Do aliens exist?

Was Kendall’s name crossed out or underlined?

Just what kind of blackmail does Bankole have on Mickey & Konrad?

Whatever it is though, we hope he has backed up his files because the genius creators behind our little chaotic finance show RETURNED to the podcast this week. They touched on how they decided to use Harper and Yasmin this season, what the revelations from this week’s fifth episode could mean and just why Eric hadn’t done coke since 9/11.

Bankole always hesitates to call these discussions “interviews” (and we’ve been lucky to do a few of them), and listening to this week's Mickey and Konrad conversation, you can see why. Listening to them talk about their world is always a delight, and their love and passion for these characters and their stories are immediately evident. As early buyers of the Pierpoint dip, we're delighted with every opportunity we get to speak with them, and understanding their big swings only makes us love the show more. It also helps that they’ve created another objectively great season of television.

Speaking of great television, SLOW HORSES returned last week, and our coverage of that begins this week. We are going to employ a fortnightly coverage schedule for the show (just like last season), and we’ll have episodes out after Episode 2, Episode 4, and the finale, Episode 6.

As we’ve previously lamented on the podcast, Apple is awful at marketing its gems, so it's very possible that you've never heard about the show. It follows a team of the “worst agents at MI5” as they get routinely roped into plots that they have no business being involved in. Led by Gary Oldman’s Jackson Lamb, the show also stars the excellent Kristin Scott Thomas and Mr. Saoirse Ronan himself, Jack Lowden. We’ve historically raved about the excellence of SLOW HORSES; it was Bankole’s 5th best show of 2023, and Eyo once explained the reason for its greatness as simply: “It does everything well.” 3 Seasons. 18 episodes. You’re welcome.

See you next month!
